Children's & Teen Ear Piercing
(3-17 years old)
Before booking, a parent or legal guardian MUST read this page in full. Minors cannot book their own appointment.
At The Piercing Apothecary, every children's and teen piercing is performed with the utmost care, precision, and professionalism. Founded and operated by Jessica Lee, RN and Erick Helix, the studio blends medical expertise with years of piercing experience to create one of the most trusted spaces in the RGV.

As the Valley's only female Registered Nurse piercer, Jessica ensures every procedure meets the highest standards of safety and sanitation while providing a calm, reassuring experience for each child, teen, and their parent.

The Piercing Apothecary proudly operates by the professional standards of the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) - upheld through Erick Helix's active membership and a shared commitment to safety, integrity, and excellence. Every piercing is performed using sterilized, single use needles - never a piercing gun - and medical-grade, single use markers - never a Sharpie. It's all part of their promise to provide safe, gentle, and meticulously clean piercings every time.

The goal is to create a positive and empowering experience for both parent and child - with time to ask questions, choose jewelry together, and understand each step of the process.

To ensure a smooth and the safest experience possible, please read
the following information thoroughly before booking below.

What To Bring To Your Appointment
In accordance with Texas state law, all minors under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present at the time of the piercing and the parent or guardian must remain present during the entire appointment and will be required to complete a consent form before the procedure begins.
To verify identity and guardianship, you MUST bring the following. This helps us be fully compliant with Texas regulations and ensures a safe and verified process.

-
Parent or guardian's valid photo ID (driver's license, state issued ID, or passport).
-
If the child has a government-issued photo ID (such as a state ID or passport) please bring it.
-
For children who do not yet have a photo ID, an original birth certificate listing the parent/guardian's name is required.
-
If the parent's last name does not match the child's (for example, due to divorce, remarriage, or other legal name changes), please also bring documentation that confirms guardianship - such as a divorce decree, court order, or legal custody paperwork.

Why the paperwork?
Because we take safety as seriously as sparkles. These documents make sure your child's piercing is legally verified, parent-approved, and 100% above board - no exceptions, even for the world's coolest aunt or big sister.

We truly appreciate your understanding.

Before Your Appointment
Getting ready for your child's piercing should feel exciting, not stressful.
Here are a few gentle reminders to help the day go smoothly - for both of you.
1
Make sure your child has eaten and is well rested.
A light meal beforehand helps prevent lightheadedness and keeps your child comfortable.
2
Dress comfortably
Choose a loose or open-neck top so the ear area is easy to access. Avoid tight collars, hoodies, or bulky sweaters that may rub against the new piercing.
3
Avoid scheduling right before sports or swimming.
Fresh piercings need time to heal, and avoiding pools, lakes, or heavy activity in the first few weeks helps prevent irritation or infection.
4
Talk about the process together
Let your child know that this isn't like getting a shot at the doctor's office.
Even though the piercer may be wearing scrubs as part of the sterile practice, this is not a medical procedure. - it's a gentle celebratory experience.
5
Phrases not to use
We kindly ask parents not to use phrases like "if you don't behave, she'll give you a shot" or anything that might create fear or anxiety. Our goal is to make this a calm and confidence building milestone for your child.
6
Empowering, never forcing
If your child decides after the first ear that they don't want to continue, we will fully respect that decision. No convincing or pressuring will take place - we'll simply stop, comfort your child, and offer to reschedule for another day when they are ready.
Deposit will rollover.
CONSENT AND COMFORT ALWAYS
